Best Vanilla Buttercream (dairy free)

This icing is a cinch to make and tastes delicious. You can tone back the vanilla flavour if you want a slightly more neutral taste  by simply opting for an unflavoured plant based milk and reducing the vanilla extract to half a teaspoon.



125 g plant based Nuttelex

3 1/2 cups Icing sugar

1 tsp vanilla extract

1 tbsp vanilla plant based milk- almond or soy milk

*plus set aside an extra cup of icing sugar and pinch of salt just in case you want to tweak the taste and texture.


1Use a hand mixer to combine the Nuttelex and 31/2 cups icing sugar.

2Add the vanilla almond milk and vanilla extract to the mixture and beat until smooth. If mixture needs more texture, add more icing sugar. To balance sweetness, add a pinch of salt if needed

3Apply to cake(s) using a piping bag with an open star nozzle. Decorate with flowers or sprinkles.
